The factory

French manufacturer of ceramics since 1857

Our factory is located in a small village in the South of France, Anneyron, in Drôme.

This is where our collective of around a hundred ceramists meet every day to work the clay,

for over 167 years. Each piece is shaped by hand, in a ballet of sure gestures, which are

always the same without ever being completely so. Sandstone, material for ideas, offers us a ground

fabulous play to express our creativity. Inspired, Jars designs diverse collections,

exploring different aesthetic universes, which can be assembled and mixed as desired on the tables

great chefs like in family kitchens.

hands in the earth

Jars makes its own stoneware paste from carefully selected natural earths from certified partners renowned for their sustainable quarry management. Cleaned and sieved several times, our paste is assembled according to a secret recipe, the result of years of research and experimentation. The characteristic whiteness of the stoneware thus obtained guarantees the most beautiful glaze effects after high-temperature firing.

the art of enamel

The technique has been the same for thousands of years, but Jars has made a significant contribution to the creation of stable and functional effect glazes. True treasures, Jars glazes are the result of precious manufacturing secrets. The search for a precise shade is a demanding creative path, from trial and error, until the right color is achieved. An infinite palette of vivid, deep, crystallized, cracked, matte, or glossy tones is available to ceramists. Dipped with a ladle, applied with a brush to an outline, or delicately sprayed by hand... The artisan's gesture is always beautiful and precise. During the so-called 'grand feu' firing, the glaze fuses with the stoneware material. It then reveals its nuances and effects, its subtle and fascinating hazards.
